Ex Memoria began as my attempt to understand the strange architecture of traumatic memory. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I have spent much of my adult life grappling with the ways trauma persists long after the event itself has ended—how the mind can forget what the body does not, and how a sound, a touch, or a room can collapse decades without warning. Horror gave me a language to make those invisible experiences tangible, transforming the interior landscape of trauma into something visceral.
