Devany Greenwood is a French-American writer and director based in Los Angeles. Her work explores identity, sexuality, and the complexity of human relationships, with a particular interest in the interior lives of women. Moving between psychological horror, magical realism, and intimate drama, she uses genre and heightened reality to make those inner worlds visible, giving physical form to experiences that often resist language.
Her latest film, the psychological horror-drama Ex Memoria, explores the terrifying elasticity of traumatic memory. Her feature screenplay Into the Thicket, a magical realist coming-of-age drama, received a 9/10 on the Black List and was named a Semifinalist in the WeScreenplay Feature Lab and a Quarterfinalist in the Outstanding Screenplays Feature Competition. Greenwood later directed a proof-of-concept for the feature, which premiered at the Oscar® and BAFTA-qualifying LA Shorts International Film Festival. In 2021, she founded Cosmica Productions, an independent production company dedicated to championing female and underrepresented voices.
Before focusing primarily on writing and directing, Greenwood spent six years in specialty costume and prop fabrication for film, television, and aerospace. Her work contributed to productions including For All Mankind, Station Eleven, and The Last of Us, as well as the development of the closeout crew technician suits for NASA’s Artemis II mission.
