Into the Thicket grew from my fascination with the complicated inheritance passed between mothers and daughters—the ways our earliest experiences of love shape our understanding of ourselves and the relationships we seek beyond them. At the heart of the film is a longing to be seen, nurtured, and understood, and the magical worlds we create when something we need is missing. Through a fantastical lens, that longing takes shape at the threshold between desire and imagination, girlhood and womanhood.
